For Americans political elections bring a barrage of campaign literature, commercials, speeches that never end. For Black Americans political elections always bring besides the campaign materials and endless speeches, we also get disinformation, propaganda and a flurry of candidates seeking our vote but never our respect and long time concerns.
Black voters also get the usual crisis pleas and hysteria over our right to vote. I have never argued that not voting is a good option yet I have matured and evolved to now give some credibility and argument to the position of not voting at all. One can take a principled position by opting put of a flawed and corrupt political system. One can argue by voting they are contributing to a corrupt and immoral political system. The jury is still out on the merits of voting and not voting.
My advice for this mid- term election is simple BE YOU vote as if your vote reflects your value and concerns not the agenda of political parties and political candidates who only care about you when they want your vote.

Funny you post this comment on voting, because I'm of the mind set that the reason our vote is sometimes not taken serious is because we are not serious as a group.
Too many Black folk don't understand the political process and in turn are used and abused when it comes to its benifits.
Oh and I will vote tuesday by hook or crook and not just vote for who the advertisments say I should vote for or even who the preachers say who to vote for.
But I will vote for the persons who have MY interests best at heart!
It is my opinion that at the present time within our community there is no "Black Community Development" movement. That which used to be called the "Civil Rights Movement" is a victim of integration. It is now a 100% participant in the "Malcolm X Football Game". They mistake the fact that they are now allowed in as starters that this is absolute benefit for the Black community. Nothing could be further from the case.
We need to make a distinction between "Voting" and "what we can reasonably expect from the voting process/ American Political Domain".
The main reason why we appear to be continually disappointed AND are so easily exploited by claims of RACISM is because those who are most responsible for fomenting this message also benefit from keeping us up-ended as such.
The community needs to develop improved management principles. The first of which is to manage the local institutions that "favorable people" now control so that we can actually obtain our interests. Instead today we are in a constant expansionary struggle IN PURSUIT OF our interests.
