In America many realities are racialized from Crime to Economic status. I expected the same racial narrative with the Virus pandemic in America.
Our first responders when they are doctors and nurses are celebrated as heroes and heroines. Contact workers of color and their risks are diminished and often ignored in these parades and celebrations
It is unfolding daily the poor especially Black Americans are being designated as the Virus, by many in majority ( read White venues ).
There exists an underlying the myth of ‘United We Stand’ propaganda growing in our nation. The theme of ‘those people’ is once again undermining collective solidarity against the Virus
In this climate of the racialized Virus selective enforcement protocols already exist arrests instead of tickets are given to violaters of social distance protocols.
Media platforms constantly elevate stories of White families as able navigators during the Virus while ignoring the same in poor and Black families.
Selective religious groups are given priority treatment while White protestors in many states today are affirmed and validated as ‘freedom fighters’
The Virus has now been weaponized to inflict not only death to many but also to wage a civil war against many.
What happens when those are have been wrongfully weaponized become insurgents waging their own civil war ?
