Philanthropic Bigotry and Equity

There are no private or public venues in America from politics to economics including religion and government that is not and has not been contaminated with racism , bigotry and inequity.

America’s institutions as well as our social environments are soaked and baked with the pathologies of above mentioned failures of our nation.

One of these landscapes that is rarely under the microscope is the world of nonprofits and philanthropic organizations . The structural inequities that exist in these orbits are truly staggering and profound in every aspect.

There are very few studies or data on the entire spectrum of the role of race from those giving the grants to those receiving . Given the historical reality of racism, bigotry and inequity in America one does not have to be concerned about inserting opinions and inferences with regards to race and this subject matter in this arena.

There is extensive racism in these venues that requires little calibration or exaggeration. The stench of racism is there…

Yes the overwhelming majority of the grantors are White as well as those on the receiving end of the money/ grants . Yes those on the short end of securing grants are America’s usual structural victims.

So now what do we do about it?

To be continued….
